Dr. Mark John Bennett, missionary to Japan preaching
Our preacher today: Dr. Mark John Bennett has been serving as a minister most of his life. He began serving the local church when he was 13 and has held just about every position in a church, including janitor. Mark and Sharon arrived in Asia in 1990, first serving in Taiwan, but quickly being transferred to Japan where they fell in love with and were called as a couple to serve here. Three sons were born and raised here, Jonmarc (20), Jonathan (18), and Jonluke (16). The older boys are at California Baptist University and Jonluke attends Christian Academy in Japan. They have lived in Tokyo, Kitakyushu, Narashino, Chiba, and currently reside in Hibarigaoka, Nishi-Tokyo. They have been Strategy Coordinators, Team Leaders, Language and Cultural Development Coaches, but always see themselves as disciple makers and church planters. For the last few years, Mark has been serving as Compassion Ministries Strategist for the Japan Baptist Mission and working with Homeless people in Western Tokyo. God is doing some wonderful things and allowing the Bennett’s to participate.
