A Mid-Summer Day’s Post

Dear WTUC Family,

We’re already 75% through our summer break, and in just a few weeks, we’ll be gathering together in person or virtually weekly once again to worship the living God! I hope that you are doing well and that wherever you are, you are having an opportunity to grow in your faith.

Our BOLT Virtual VBS Team!

At the beginning of August, we hosted the WTUC Virtual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for three days, and it was such a blast! We had kids from both WTUC and Yokohama Union Church, and we talked about how we were to BOLT toward Jesus, learning to receive God’s Word, setting our sights on Jesus, and following our loving God who calls us. We also had a chance to play games and do “full contact origami”! A special thanks to Ruth Ingulsrud, her friends, and Ann Tang! We look forward to planning for next summer, and if you have any ideas or would like to volunteer to help us during the event, please let me know!

Our first service of the next WTUC year will be Sunday, September 1. We are looking forward to having our service at Japan Lutheran College and Seminary at 11:00 a.m. that day. We will also be observing the Lord’s Supper, and so please prepare in prayer as we get ready for Communion. We are looking for people to serve in various roles during the service, and so if you’re interested in helping out as a liturgist, child care, or support for fellowship hour, please check out our service page to get in touch with us!

I had the privilege to preach at Tokyo Union Church at the beginning of this month, and I will be preaching again this Sunday, this time at Yokohama Union Church. If you’re able to join us, you can visit YUC in person, where the service will begin at 10:30 a.m., or you can join at this Zoom link (Meeting ID: 918 7185 6816; Pass code: Union1863).

I look forward to seeing you in September! Please continue to pray for WTUC as we look forward to starting this new year, and if we can be praying for you, please contact our prayer team through our Prayer page. Stay cool and safe, and see you soon!

Blessings,
Jonathan
