Summer Season… Summer Break?
Hello, West Tokyo Union Church.
As we begin the summer season, we take our traditional two month break from gathering together. Be that as it may, we can still be growing and not taking a break in growing as a community.
We might have a tendency to always look forward to what may be coming up next on our schedules, but sometimes taking a break from our regular routine helps us to reflect more about the importance of our faith in Christ and our community of sisters and brothers who make up the church. We might be on summer break at WTUC, but we don’t have to be on spiritual break. Our continued growth in our walk in Christ and seeking to change up the way to stay in touch with each other can really help us find the desire to meet together and grow as a family. WTUC has already found creative ways to do that during the pandemic, and hopefully we can stay in touch during this summer period creatively as well. If you have suggestions, please let us know!
I’ve come to really appreciate this idea of shaken schedules over the past week as Mikayla has come and joined us on this side of life. Breaks are hard to come by with newborns - but it is in the midst of those breaks that we truly appreciate both the busyness and the peaceful times that come in unexpected waves.
God has set in motion our need for regular times of rest, and I hope that during this season, you will find some time of rest. I also encourage you to stay connected through our Facebook page, where we can continue to interact with each other in conversation. This is a great way for us to stay connected as a community.
Also, if you know any young children in elementary school who would like to be plugged in to our community, we have a virtual Vacation Bible School taking place in the early part of August. Send them the link, and invite them to join in.
We have sister churches in the Union Church Network, with some of them offering online options to worship. Please feel free to connect with them during the summer months too!
On a final note, thank you for warmly welcoming our family over these past few weeks. We look forward to worshipping with you regularly in September.
