A Request for Sunday!

Hello, WTUC Family.

I hope that you are having a good week! It’s amazing how one week, it feels like autumn, and then we’re back to the summer-like heat! I hope that you’re staying cool and have enjoyed the past few days.

I have a request to ask of you for this coming Sunday as we are gathering in person. One of the things we enjoy when we gather together in person is a time of fellowship, and one of the aspects of this time is the food that we enjoy. I would like to ask for your assistance - it would be really helpful if you could bring a food item to be shared for the fellowship time after the service. It doesn’t have to be big or fancy (unless you would like to do that), but with everyone contributing to the time of fellowship, it helps share these needs throughout the congregation and makes it enjoyable as we see the variety of different items that are available. If possible, please bring a small dish or finger food item if you’re coming to the service this Sunday.

That leads me to remind you that we are meeting in person this Sunday at our normal gathering location in Room 105 on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary! We’ll start the service at 11:00 a.m., and we will hear from Dr. Adam Smith, who will be sharing about the idea of needing some spiritual “big cleaning” in our lives. You can preview the bulletin and the hymns for Sunday by checking out the WTUC Calendar.

Also, we are experimenting with providing a manuscript for our messages a couple of days before the Sunday services when possible. We are posting them on our Sermons page in English along with a machine-translated (ChatGPT) Japanese version as well for those who may want to read in Japanese. While not perfect, the translated version should provide enough accuracy in meaning to help make our messages more accessible to more people. Please take a look, and if you have any feedback or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us about it.

I hope that you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Blessings,
Jonathan
