World Communion Sunday
Dear Sisters and Brothers of West Tokyo Union Church,
I hope that you have had a good week and are looking forward to gathering for worship this coming Sunday. The first Sunday of October is known as World Communion Sunday, where churches take time to remember how we are all united in Christ across the world. As we prepare to partake in the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, let us remember what Christ has done for us, that this love stretches across countries and continents, through time and space. For it is in Christ that we are made one and are able to call each other sisters and brothers.
Working in the newsroom, I am continually reminded of how our world remains at war and with continued unrest. Please keep those who are dealing with the tragedy of conflict in different parts of the world as well natural disasters that have caused devastation both here in Japan recently as well as abroad. If we can be praying for you, please send us your prayer requests by going to the Prayer Page here.
This Sunday, we will be gathering on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary in Room 105 at 11:00 a.m. for our worship service. You can review the bulletin and the hymns for the service on our calendar page, and you will be able to read the manuscript in English and 日本語 later on Saturday. As we are gathering in person, if you are able to bring something for the fellowship hour, please do so!
I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday. Have a good rest of the week, and see you in a couple of days.
Blessings,
Jonathan
