Nothing like late summer storms

Hello, West Tokyo Union Church family!

I hope that you’re staying dry in the midst of this tropical system that is swinging through the western part of Japan. I’ve been keeping an eye on the storm as part of my duties as a meteorologist, and this system has certainly made its presence known. Keep the people across this nation in your prayers as the storm continues to bring rainfall that could easily cause flooding and landslides.

Be that as it may, we’re expecting wet but not problematic weather for this Sunday, and that means we are planning to gather in person at Japan Lutheran College and Seminary in Room 105 (our usual in-person gathering location) for our first worship service of this WTUC year! Please join us starting at 11:00 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship. We are also going to observe the Lord’s Supper during this service, and so I ask that we all spend time in preparing our hearts for this as we approach Sunday.

You can now preview the order of the service by checking out our Calendar page! The bulletin and hymn inserts are made available for each service. We will be printing the bulletins for the in-person gatherings, but you can also download them to your smartphone or computer as well for all of our services.

Thank you so much for warmly welcoming my family and me. I am looking forward to serving as your pastor and to walk alongside you as we seek to grow in pursuit of the living God! Please stay safe, and I will see you on Sunday.

Blessings,
Jonathan
