Is “doubting Thomas” a fair nickname?

Hello, WTUC Family.

I hope that you have had a wonderful week with unseasonably warm weather - it felt like June in some places! This is helping to bring signs of spring into view - cherry blossoms are popping up all around, and I hope that you’re getting a chance to get out and enjoy these flowers dotting the streets.

This coming Sunday, we welcome back Rev. Dr. Tim Boyle as he joins us during our service to preaching about “The Gospel According to the Life of Thomas”. Did Thomas really deserve his nickname? We will get to hear from him about this question. We will be gathering online via Zoom at 11:00 a.m., and so please come join us as we worship together. For more details on the service, check out the Calendar page for information and the Zoom link.

As we look toward the end of Lent in a couple of weeks, we are preparing for our Holy Week services and events. Here is a quick preview of what’s ahead:

Sunday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. - Worship Service via Zoom
Maundy Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. - Fellowship Dinner via Zoom
Good Friday, April 18 - Bilingual Service at Mitaka Lutheran Church (time TBA), Online Service at Tokyo Union Church (7:30 p.m.)
Easter Sunday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. - Worship Service on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary Room 105 (Communion, Baptism, and Potluck Fellowship Lunch)

More details will be forthcoming soon, but I hope that you will join us for our various service offerings in the coming weeks.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, and blessings!
Jonathan
