Opportunities to Serve
Hello, WTUC Family.
I hope that you are having a good week. We’re certainly feeling a changing of the seasons here, and we’re going to have chances to gather more over the coming weeks.
I wanted to take this time to talk about opportunities where you can serve in our community. We’ve had some great chances to gather both in-person and online, and it takes people within our community to lead us during the services and for the various activities that have taken place. Have you considered how you may be able to serve?
You could serve during the worship service, whether as a liturgist or as a lector to read the Scripture during either our in-person or our online service.
You could serve by preparing and bringing something for our fellowship hour during our in-person gatherings.
You can help with volunteering for our youth and kids, including doing Good News for Kids during our in-person services.
You can support some of our outreach activities that will be coming up, including programs for the children in local homes during our Christmas outreach.
There are many opportunities where you can serve, and we need you. If you’re interested in learning more, please feel to contact Yasu Nagatsune, who is the Steering Committee member focusing on outreach, by emailing outreach@wtuc.net.
This Sunday, we will be gathering in-person on the campus of Japan Lutheran College and Theological Seminary Room 105 for our worship service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Jim Sack will be preaching on “From First to Last” - and yes, it’s connected to the idea of service. Please come join us and also stay for a time of fellowship.
In my letter last week, I asked for your help regarding upcoming activities that will be taking place, including our Thanksgiving Celebration, Christmas Pageant, and the Christmas Eve service. We need folks to help us out! You can read that letter by clicking here, and let us know if you are available to help!
Thank you so much for being a part of this community. Have a wonderful rest of the week, and be ready to bundle up Sunday morning as it will be one of the coldest mornings we’ve seen in some time here in Tokyo!
Blessings,
Jonathan
