Rebecca Flannery began studying harp when she was 11, growing up in CT. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in harp performance at the State University of NY at Stony Brook and then went on to earn her Masters Degree at Yale University.  She has been a professional harpist ever since and has taught as Professor of Harp at the University of CT, the University of Hartford, and the Neighborhood Community Music School in New Haven, CT, as well as privately. She has performed throughout the US as well as internationally in Europe and in Japan. She has performed in such places as Carnegie Hall in NYC, and under some of the world’s great conductors.   She teaches harp each fall semester here at the Japan Lutheran College to both students, graduates and community members.
 
Rebecca is married to Peter Reis, who is a retired US Navy Commander who served on surface ships and aboard submarines in the Pacific and the Atlantic. He did his undergraduate studies at the Univ. of California, Berkeley where he double majored in Political Science and Economics, he earned his law degree at New York University and practiced law in NY, Washington DC, California, and Belgium. When he retired he turned his passion for harps into a business that grew to be Harps Unlimited International, LLC with a dozen showrooms around the US from coast to coast.   www.harps-international.com

NATIVITY CRAFT WORKSHOP

Join us after worship this Sunday, December 11th to make hand-crafted nativity sets to raise money for refugees.

Led by Mio Foster who leads a group supporting refugees in Bangkok, Thailand.

ICU Cafeteria; 1:30 – 3:00 pm

A group will walk over to ICU from WTUC at 1:10 pm

Children can also participate to make Christmas ornaments.
