Rev. Dr. Jim Sack preaching. Jim and Carol Sack are long-time members of WTUC. Jim teaches pastoral theology at the Japan Lutheran College and the Japan Lutheran Theological Seminary. He is the campus Director of the Personal Growth and Counseling Center.  Together with his spouse, Carol, he began global mission service with the ELCA in 1982, immediately following his graduation from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., where he also received his PhD.

Dr. Shew is a missionary of the United Methodist Church, serving as a professor, chaplain and administrator at Aoyama Gakuin, a Christian educational institution in Tokyo encompassing about 24,000 students from kindergarten through graduate school. He’s founded numerous new initiatives during his 15 years at AGU including the university gospel choir, student-led contemporary worship, 300-member Habitat for Humanity student organization, Muslim student ministry, e-learning system and international programs. He teaches courses including Introduction to Christianity and World Religions to over 1000 students a year.Â
